While the saying “all good things must come to an end” can come off as rather cliché at times, it remains true for a lot of things. Take for example Samsung’s Galaxy S20 line of flagship phones, which will no longer receive software updates, half a decade after their launch.

As spotted on Samsung’s official update support page, the Galaxy S20, S20 Plus, and S20 Ultra will no longer get security or software upgrades as they were only scheduled to get five, unlike Samsung’s newer flagship devices which come with up to seven years of support. As for the Galaxy S0 FE, the phone will get a few more months of support, but this will presumably end within the year.
Last year, Samsung shifted its support timeline for the Galaxy S20 series from monthly updates to a quarterly basis, although it can be remembered around this time that the company started to massively improve its software support for its smartphones, a stark contrast to the less-than-stellar update timelines for previous Samsung handsets.
